Northampton County Board of Zoning Appeals
The Northampton County Board of Zoning Appeals is a 5 member appointed by the Virginia Circuit Court Judge. Each member serves a 5-year term.
The Board of Zoning Appeals is responsible for interpreting the provisions of the Zoning Code when necessary and for hearing and deciding upon appeals regarding the administration of the Zoning Code. The Board also reviews and makes decisions on requests for special exceptions as specified by the Zoning Code and has the authority to hear and decide applications for variances from the terms of the Zoning Code.
Board of Zoning Appeals:
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at a time to be announced unless there is no case to be reviewed or due to a holiday conflict. Additional meetings are held as needed. Board members are appointed by the Judge of the Circuit Court for Northampton County according to Virginia State Code 15.430.

The Northampton County Board of Zoning Appeals will meet on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at 10:15 a.m. in the Board Chambers located in the County Administration Building at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville, Va., for the purpose of conducting regular business and public hearings on the following matters. At 9:00 a.m., Board members will assemble at the Dept. of Planning & Zoning in the County Administration Building then travel to the property described below in order to conduct field inspections.
A. Buffer Exception B-EX 2015-06: Joseph & Terry Peterson have applied for an after-the-fact exception of 65 square feet and 70 linear feet of encroachment into the required resource protection area buffer to cover a broken patio with a porch and roof of an existing single-family dwelling. The property has frontage on Nassawadox Creek and is located at 7400 Prettyman Circle, near Exmore. The parcel is zoned A- Agricultural and described as Tax Map 18, double circle A, parcel 6.
