Circuit Court Clerk - Traci L. Johnson
The Clerk's office is responsible for maintaining Northampton County's records for the Virginia State Circuit Court, recording deeds and wills and issuing marriage licenses. The Clerk assists Circuit Court Judges in the execution of their judicial duties by preparing, recording, and maintaining court orders, subpoenas and pleadings. The Clerk's office also manages the Court's docket and juries.
Commissioner of Revenue - Charlene Gray
The Commissioner's office is responsible for assessing the value of all real and personal property, issuing business licenses, and helping process citizen State Income tax returns. The office also maintains the land book, and administers the tax relief for the elderly and disabled real estate owners program, tax exemption for rehabilitated commercial/industrial and residential structures, transient occupancy tax, food and beverage tax and the Personal Property Tax Relief Act.
Commonwealth Attorney - Bruce D. Jones Jr.
The Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney prosecutes all criminal offenses, including traffic violations that occur within the County's boundaries. Bruce Jones is a seasoned prosecutor with over 25 years of legal experience, who represents the interests of the citizens of Northampton County and the County's Sheriff Department.
Sheriff - David L. Doughty, Jr.
The Office of the Sheriff is committed to promote pride and respect for the judicial system through enforcement of civil laws, maintaining a safe environment for courtroom proceedings and ensuring the security and safety of persons entrusted to the Sheriff's custody.
Treasurer - Cindy Bradford
The Treasurer of the County is responsible for collecting revenues in the form of taxes and fees. These revenues include: real estate taxes, personal property taxes, license taxes, permit fees, state income taxes, and court, sheriff and clerk fees. The Treasurer also manages the investment of local funds and maintains the county's financial records in conjunction with the finance department.
