PUBLIC MEETINGS CALENDAR 

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Northampton County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing commencing at 5:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, 16404 Courthouse Road, Eastville, Virginia, to afford interested parties the opportunity to be heard or present written comments regarding the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED,
“AN ORDINANCE TO PERMIT EXEMPTION
FROM TAXATION OF REAL ESTATE
OF CERTAIN ELDERLY OR HANDICAPPED PERSONS”


The purpose of this ordinance is to increase the household income limit from $50,000 to $57,500; to increase the total net worth allowed from $100,000 to $115,000; to increase from $3,000 to $3,450 the amount to be excluded from the annual income of the owner’s relatives living in the dwelling other than the spouse’s; to modify the window for applications; and to increase the total maximum exemption allowed from $1,000 to $1,150.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for public review at the County Administrator’s Office, Eastville, Virginia, during normal business hours.
