Northampton County Honors Legacy of Donnie Kellam, Beloved Volunteer Firefighter

The Northampton County Board of Supervisors recently presented a resolution of appreciation to the family of Donald (Donnie) Kellam. Jr. to posthumously recognize him for his many years of dedication to Northampton County.
Kellam was a lifetime member of the Community Fire Company in Exmore having served since 1977. He also served as a representative of the Eastern Shore of Virginia 9-1-1 Commission. He was known for his unwavering commitment and selfless acts, and was a beacon of hope and courage, inspiring countless individuals throughout his career.
In recognition of his extraordinary contributions, the County honors his memory through the following Resolution:
RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
WHEREAS, the Northampton County Board of Supervisors, wishes to express appreciation for Donald (Donnie) E. Kellam Jr.'s service to Northampton County; since his passing on January 5, 2025, has caused a deep void and sadness in the community; and
WHEREAS, Donnie became a volunteer with Community Fire Company in Exmore, Virginia, in 1977; and
WHEREAS, during Donnie's forty-seven years in the fire and emergency medical services, he served in all administrative offices of the Community Fire Company, many years as its Vice- President; and
WHEREAS, Donnie was devoted to the betterment and training of firefighters on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, serving on a committee establishing the Eastern Shore Regional Fire Training Center; and
WHEREAS, Donnie served as a representative on the Eastern Shore of Virginia 9-1-1 Commission since its inception in 1990, serving as its Chairman from 2001 until the time of his passing; and
WHEREAS, Donnie served many years as a member of the Northampton County Fire and Rescue Commission, promoting cooperation and efficiency in the provision of fire and emergency
medical services throughout the County; and
WHEREAS, his service to Northampton County, took thousands of hours from his time with his family; his family is thanked for sharing him to help protect our communities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Northampton County Board of Supervisors does hereby adopt this Resolution of Appreciation for Donald E. Kellam Jr., and his valuable contributions
to the protection and safety of the residents of Northampton County and the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald E. Kellam Jr., and included in the minutes of the Northampton County Board of Supervisors.
